"After visiting the restaurant and spa in June 2013 with friends, I decided to bring my mom back for a weekend retreat. I took advantage of the special in August (buy one night get one free). The savings allowed us to splurge a little with anti-aging facials. We stayed in a retreat room that was very clean and fridge well stocked (except no bottled water but we brought our own). Next time I will pay a little more for a suite as the room was slightly small. The food at the restaurant was absolutely divine. Try the eggs benedict at Sunday brunch. Facial was amazing, too. The scenery was relaxing and we enjoyed listening to the locusts while sitting on the porch. This was a wonderful getaway in every way...the service was outstanding. We encountered the same family of deer twice. Highly recommended if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life."
"I found The Canebrake by clicking on a pet friendly link on the Oklahoma Tourism website. What a find! We stayed in one of the retreat rooms. Our dog was greeted with a huge dog biscuit on check in (humans can have a complimentary glass of champagne) and there was a huge doggie bed for him as well as his own towel (labeled - dog towel) food and water bowls in the room - nice comfy king size bed, towels and bathrobes for us. Eating our dinner on the patio allowed us to bring our dog with us there, too. Great gourmet dinner and one of the waiters brought our dog a bowl of ice water! The service was so friendly and everyone always asking if everything was ok (which it certainly was!). Wish we had been there long enough to enjoy the spa services. We did have a nice evening walk after dinner. There was a gentleman playing guitar and singing in the lounge and the gift shop leans towards yoga clothing and herbal lotions and bath soaks. Some of them are made by one of the owners I understand.
On Thursdays your dog can eat free if you order your meal and Wednesdays the chef offers smashburgers - we were there on a Friday and missed both - wish that was offered more often! Was a very relaxing stay and would love to stay there again."
“My husband & I were looking for a place that we could call 'our place.' We found it at The Canebrake! Driving down the road which was “canopy-ed” by trees was our first hint that we were heading into a special place. Quiet, calm, and relaxing are the adjectives I’d use to describe our stay. We were taken by golf cart to our “retreat room” which was completely nestled in the trees! The room was modern with a comfy bed & lots of great pillows, a small frig, and a TV. The bathroom was nicely done & we appreciated the Aveda products. The small touches like comfy throws, real glassware and reading sconces above the bed were also a nice touch. The room was surrounded by so many trees that it was like staying in a VERY modern treehouse! The tree frogs and crickets “sang” at night, while the birds chirped happily during the day . . .so relaxing! The Canebrake staff were all very friendly and helpful; we felt welcome and well taken care of in every detail. We fished with equipment loaned to us by the Canebrake, hiked some of their 5 miles of tree-lined trails, took a fun yoga class taught by Lisa Bracken, one of the owners of the Canebrake. Yoga is her passion; she was knowledgable and enjoyed teaching a little physiology of movement as well in the class we took (class is free for guests). My hubby came for the wonderful food and we were not disappointed! We had a happy coincidence of being there the week of the “75-mile dinner”, a 7 course meal with wine pairings! What a meal! Sam Bracken is the main chef and proprietor and he has some talented people in their kitchen. The fresh produce, herbs, wonderful locally obtained meats and the wines, and a wonderful fun staff to serve them, made our evening terrific. I loved their salads and breads, my husband was crazy about their delicious cheeses and great meats, and the wine. We also had a 2-hour couples massage & facial during our stay. It was fabulous! We were served a “spa lunch” after our massage, which was a wonderful delight of assorted cheeses, fresh fruits, a wonderful beet and red onioin salad, and yummy hot bread with olive oil and fresh herbs to dip it in. Let’s just say we were happy happy! We found what we were looking for! We’ll be back! Thanks Sam, Lisa and the entire staff for making our getaway to special!"
"I found this resort on TripAdvisor after arriving in Muskogee and all the hotels were full. I’m so glad they were. The drive to the resort is beautiful. The moment you walk in the front door you know it’s special. The reception area was beautiful, a duo was playing jazz in the lounge and the welcome was warm. Our room was beautiful and so quiet since you can’t drive to the rooms but are taken by golf cart. There were so many trees we felt like we were in a tree house. The breakfast the next morning was amazing. We were treated so well by the staff. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. It’s a hidden oasis in Oklahoma that I never expected but will visit again."
“Looking for a five-star experience in Oklahoma? Look no further. The Canebrake offers a unique experience deep in the heart of green country. Fine dining and superior spa services away you on the 500+ acre oasis. The Canebrake offers yoga, hiking trails, fishing and a ropes course with a really cool zip line. The accommodations are superior. You will NOT be ‘roughing it’ at all. A romantic getaway is just a short drive away. This is as close to a ‘Four Seasons’ experience as you’re going to find. The service is 5-star all the way. The menu is always a delight with something for both the vegetarian and the carnivore.”
“I had the best time ever and enjoyed absolutely everything during my stay. Everybody and everything was just wonderful. I cannot wait to plan another get away and see you all soon. Thank you and all the wonderful people at The Canebrake for making my weekend so special. Warm hugs.”

"My husband Mark & I just wanted to tell The Canebrake staff how much we enjoyed our stay with you this weekend. This was our first time at your resort, but we hope to return soon. The food, in particular, was such a tremendous pleasure! The yoga class and couples massage were both very relaxing, and new experiences for both of us. We were so impressed with every staff member we encountered! They all seemed both enthusiastic and very well-trained for their jobs. So nice to have a place for getaways so close to Tulsa. Thanks again for everything."

"Breanna was amazing! She triggered every stress point in my back. We’ve been to a lot of spas & BY FAR she’s the best!"
“It was a wonderful massage. Holly was intuitive, knowledgable and attentive to my individual needs during my treatment.”
“This was our first time here & we are pleasantly surprized & impressed! We will definitely be back! Your resort caters perfectly to our lifestyle & family (our dog)! We had such a blast! The restaurant, food, staff, room, trails, amenities are amazing! Thank You!”
"Had a great stay at The Canebrake Thursday and today. Yoga was great, the views were sublime, the FOOD was amazing and my massage was perfection. Couldn’t have gotten better. Can’t wait to come back soon for a romantic weekend with my boyfriend!"
"I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the hospitality we were shown by everyone we encountered today at The Canebrake. The facility and services are fabulous. The only problem we encountered was the food. The dishes we were served were extraordinary. So much so that it we had to totally rethink our lunch plans, since neither of the dishes we tasted were on our original choice list. We came in with three favorites and left with six! It’s a problem we will learn to live with, however. Please give the chef our compliments, since I was negligent in not doing so in person before we left."
"I came with high expectations, but even my wildest expectations were surpassed. There is no doubt that we have made the right choice in The Canebrake for our retreat(s). I expect this will be the beginning of a long relationship between (our company) and The Canebrake."
"Sam and Lisa, I am sure you remember us since we took over your fabulous facility for a weekend. We talk about this on a regular basis and it is STILL by far our best group trip ever. We want to come back this year and hope that the economy will allow it. My entire group had such a terrific time and we have told so many people about your hospitality and incredible oasis in the middle of no-where. My husband and I talk about how much fun we had sitting at the bar in the restaurant and watching the magic unfold in front of our eyes, and getting a little bite once in a while was fun too. I was telling some more folks at lunch today about your facility and they may be calling soon for reservations as well. Hope that all is well with you all and your beautiful home away from home. Look forward to seeing you in the future."
"Thought I would let you know that my husband got home an hour or so ago and has not stopped talking about The Canebrake! It would take too long to pass on all his comments about the food, the service, the staff, etc. Just know that he was in heaven. I’m so sorry I had to miss out. We are hoping to plan a weekend with you in the fall. Let me know the best time for a pretty eastern Oklahoma fall trip. Thank you taking such good care of my husband!!"
